Tonight’s Tech game at the Insight Bowl was a shocker! Texas Tech came back from 38-7 at the half to win 44-41 in “the largest comeback in NCAA bowl history.” Hell, even Mike Leach was flabbergasted! He was near tears after the game which is probably the most emotion he’s shown in his life. Congratulations to the seniors. Way to go Trlica!
I am a big fan of Mike Leach’s passing offense. It’s a lot of fun to watch and keeps the adrenaline pumping. I’ve always felt that Tech slacks off in the second half, though. I’m glad they disappointed me today. There were some good hits, good catches, good runs, and few penalties (surprisingly).
Tech always has some superstar recievers. It’s been Filani and Johnson for a few years. Before that, Wes Welker, Donnie Hart, and others always came through. I’ve got high hopes next season for the two Walkers (Todd and Grant), Eric Morris, and L.A. Reed. Of course, Danny Amendola will return as a receiver and kick returner (shades of Welker). I’ve also been fairly impressed with Tech’s backup QBs. They often make an appearance in a game or two and do fairly well for themselves. Harrell did well last year and Kingsbury did well in his first appearance. It’ll be interesting to see what the backup looks like in 2 years.
Wreck ‘em Tech!
